Although a lot of people still consider Northern Virginia to be the home of the more progressive residents of our great Commonwealth, the Democratic Party has been making tremendous strides throughout Virginia. In an announcement about an upcoming fundraiser, for instance, the chair of the Mathews County Democratic Committee pointed out that Ralph Northam was "the first elected Democratic official to carry Mathews County in 12 years" and he would be attending the event. In other words, this would be a perfect setting to celebrate the progress that Democrats have been making in Mathews County.
Another reason for people to make the trip to Mathews County for the Mathews County Democrats Crab Steam on August 9 is that both Brian Moran and Creigh Deeds will be in attendance. A lot of bloggers have been talking about their desire to hear directly from the two gubernatorial candidates and this event will give them the opportunity to do just that. In case you're are interested in attending the event, it costs $25 and will be held at the Piankatank Ruritan Club from 5pm - 7:30pm on August 9. For more information about the Crab Fest or to RSVP you can get in touch with the Chair of the Mathews County Democrats, Jen Little, by emailing littlejenlittle [at] aol [dot] com.
